E-7-4 reforms announced: fewer documents and long-service incentives

한국 비자·출입국 공지

What was announced

The Ministry of Justice plans simpler E-7-4 extension paperwork, incentives for longer service and an online work-visa guide. Check follow-up official notices for effective dates and revised requirements.

What you should know

The October 22, 2026 release concerns workers already in Korea, including those who entered under E-9 or E-10. Plans include reducing extension documents from 12 or more to seven or fewer, increasing points for service with the same employer and easing the residence period for a later F-2 change. A guide with job search, self-assessment, points calculation and checklists is planned for pilot operation. No specific effective or end date, new points or F-2 residence period is given; the guide's access route is also pending. These are announced reforms, not confirmation that every change is in force. The attachment says E-7-4 and E-7-4R currently permit only status changes within Korea. This does not open a new return route from abroad. Check the latest official requirements before applying.
