Applying for a Korean visa in Thailand as a third-country national
한국 비자·출입국 공지What was announced
The Korean Embassy in Thailand explains local filing conditions for nationals of 31 listed countries. Applications normally belong in the applicant’s home country; a Thai long-stay visa and at least two years of continuous residence, or a specified exception, allow filing in Thailand. Family-document authentication requirements are also eased for tourist visa applications.
What you should know
The embassy published this notice on October 29, 2026, without a separate effective or end date. It concerns applications in Thailand by nationals of 31 listed countries, including Vietnam, China, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Pakistan. It is not a rule for every foreign national or every Thai-language reader. Applicants covered by the list normally apply at a Korean embassy or consulate in their home country. A Thai long-stay visa plus at least two years of continuous residence permits filing in Thailand. The notice also gives ten exceptions for shorter residence. Examples include ED visa holders in formal primary, secondary or university education (language schools excluded), retirement-visa holders resident in Thailand for at least one year, visa-issuance-confirmation holders and F-4 applicants. Other exceptions cover Korean public-sector invitations, Thai diplomatic/official/Non-F/Non-IB visas, spouses or minor children of Thai nationals or people recognised as refugees in Korea, certain humanitarian visits with domestic helpers, lectures/performances/sports by long-stay residents, and C-3-10 transit applications for specified nationalities. These categories have individual conditions; check the complete country list, all ten exceptions and supporting evidence in the official notice. For families applying together for tourist visas, family-relationship documents may be submitted without authentication, and documents issued by Thai authorities are accepted. This is not a blanket authentication waiver for other visas or all documents. The notice concerns where to apply and what to submit; it does not guarantee a visa or remove an entry restriction.
