F-1-D remote-work visa: income and length-of-stay guidance

한국 비자·출입국 공지

What was announced

The Ministry of Justice's newsletter, posted on October 8, 2026, explains the F-1-D remote-work visa's income requirements and maximum three-year stay. It describes the scheme formally introduced on June 30, not a new policy taking effect in October.

What you should know

Applicants must be foreign nationals aged 18 or over, own a business abroad or work for an overseas company, be able to work remotely, and have at least one year's experience in the same industry. Income requirements depend on age, where you will live in Korea and whether family members accompany you. Apply abroad through the Korean mission responsible for your place of residence; documents include income evidence, a criminal record certificate and medical insurance. Check that mission's requirements before applying. Three years is the maximum including extensions, not a guaranteed initial stay.
